The Burlington Fire Department is trying to find out who set a fire in a trash can at Williams High School on Monday afternoon.
At around 12:41 p.m., the school resource officer alerted firefighters that there was a fire at one of the men's restrooms inside the school.
'Someone had lit some toilet paper,' Deputy Chief Mike Willets said.
And while the fire did not amount to much - there was no damage to the bathroom and no evacuation was necessary - authorities are taking the offense seriously.
'We don't want students to expand on these type of activities,' Willets said. 'It could put a lot of people in danger.'
He said they are interviewing potential eye witnesses in hopes of identifying the person responsible for the small fire.
Though sometimes students do things like this as a practical joke, setting something on fire is no laughing matter, Willets said
